  • The pay-off reel must be directly in line with the first traveler and positioned at a distance of four times the height of the traveler from the structure (4:1 distance-to-height ratio).

  • Use a figure-eight configuration when removing cable from the reel to prevent twisting and kinking. Loops should be 1.5–2.4 meters in diameter and about 4.5 meters in length.
  • Avoid placing the cable directly on pavement or surfaces without protection; use barricades or cones to prevent damage from vehicles or pedestrians .
  • Maintain the minimum bend radius during installation (typically 20 times the cable diameter) and after installation (10 times the diameter) to prevent optical performance degradation . 5. Hardware Considerations
  • Tangent clamps are used for spans less than 350 feet with angle changes under 15°.
  • Armor Grip Suspension (AGS) is used for longer spans or angle changes up to 30°.
  • Dead-ends are installed at each end of the cable and at angle changes of 30° or more to secure the cable to structures . 6. Safety Precautions
