Overview

Wall-mounted splice cabinets, also known as wall-mounted splice enclosures, are used to manage fiber optic splicing in both indoor and indoor/outdoor environments. They provide a compact, accessible solution for splicing fiber cables directly on the wall, making them ideal for Fiber-to-the-Premises (FTTP) deployments and data center transitions from high-count external cables to smaller internal cables .

Splicing Structure

1. Splice Trays:

  • Cabinets feature horizontal splice trays to facilitate easy operation and maintenance .
  • Trays can accommodate individual fibers or ribbon fibers, with capacities ranging from 48 fibers per tray up to 144 fibers for ribbon configurations .
  • High-density enclosures can handle medium to large fiber counts, with some models supporting up to 3,456 or 6,912 fibers . 2. Cable Management:
  • Incoming cables are secured using cable brackets, glands, and breakout sleeve kits to maintain proper routing and prevent fiber damage .
  • Cabinets provide slack storage for fiber excess, allowing for future re-splicing or maintenance .
  • Fray-resistant expandable sleeving and armored cable grounding kits are included for protection and durability . 3. Accessibility and Installation:
  • Wall-mounted design allows splicing under installed conditions, eliminating the need to remove the cabinet for maintenance .
  • Cabinets are designed for easy access to trays and cables, with sufficient space for splicing machines and tools .
  • Cutout diameters for cable entry vary depending on cable size, ranging from 22.5mm to 64mm for high-count cables .
