Overview

A cold splice connector, also known as a mechanical splice or fast connector, is designed to terminate fiber optic cables quickly in the field without requiring a fusion splicer. It uses a pre-polished ferrule and a mechanical alignment structure to connect the bare fiber to a short fiber stub inside the connector body, ensuring precise optical alignment and signal transmission . The term "cold" indicates that no heat or chemical curing is needed during installation .

Structure and Function
