The Association for Contemporary Dance Choreographers of Latvia organises in August two E-Motional/ ArtistNe(s)t residencies, for the projects awarderd earliers this year. Pedro Prazeres (PT) and Jazmin Chiodi & Alexandre Iseli (IE) will work on their projects in Riga and in Ainazi.
Pedro Prazeres – a dance artist and landscape architect from Portugal will be in residency in Latvia from 27 July to 9 August. He works together with choreographer Zdenka Brungot Svitekova from Slovakia and they split their residency time between Gertrudes street theatre in Riga and Culture centre in Ainazi – a small seaside village open to contemporary dance artists. The focus of their residency is the development of an international collaboration project designed for t⋀t∫. „Through this project we bring to focus the phenomenon of touch, its presence, role, and place in a human life of nowadays.” Artists plan two public sharings of their work – in Riga at Gertrudes street Theatre and at the Culture Centre in Ainazi.
Jazmin Chiodi is in residency in Riga from August 10 to 24. She collaborates with Alexandre Iseli – both artists are directors and founders of Iseli-Chiodi Dance Company as well as Tipperary Dance Residency and Dance Platform in Ireland. Jazmin Chiodi has been acquainted with Latvian contemporary dance scene during visits to Riga in 2013 in the frame of the project “E-Motional Bodies & Cities”. During the residency Jazmin and Alexandre will give classes to Latvian dancers as well as will work on their new piece that will premiere next year. „This new work is likely to dive into the darker and more agitated seas that lie underneath the surface.” The final sharing is planned to take place in dance studio „Dzirnas” on 23 August.
